ARTIST'S STATEMENT

Gallus Domesticus is Latin for the Domestic Chicken, a bird that has been anything but honoured in the North American consumerist culture.

This body of work is made up of sixteen elegant portraits, twenty-five life-size felt chicken sculptures, and dozens of eggs containing information challenging the viewer's ideas about a bird whose very name has become a simile for fearfulness and stupidity.

We are the keepers - Gallus Domesticus is an illumination of the true nature of the chicken, its wonder and splendor.
