Well used sofas, randomly placed in the boulevards of Victoria, most often facing the street as if inviting company, are not an uncommon sight. The image is both jarring and comforting. The history of owners is imprinted on the fabric and permeates the very structure of these discarded pieces of furniture, which become so fragile when abandoned to the elements. The dogs bring a sense of intimacy and belonging, adding dignity to the recently discarded.

This long term project will unfold at its own pace. I want to thank those who have alerted me to new sofa sightings in their neighbourhood and those who have let their dogs sit for me.
